Jym's Shorts - October 22, 2020

by Jym Gregory on October 22, 2020

Each Sunday that we have had the privilege to meet together corporately for worship since we "re-gathered" in July has been a joy for me. I hope it has been for those of you who have been able to gather together with us as well.  Minus two Sundays ago when we needed to cancel services, we have been moving forward steadily. I am immensely pleased about that.

We have not had the opportunity to really stop and consider all that has been happening here since March, so following is a bit of a "check-up" on where we are and where, Lord willing, we are heading.

  • As you likely know, the Mayor's Office and Department of Public Health continue to mandate the use of face masks in Marion County.  Therefore, we continue to ask that you wear a mask in our services here at LifePoint.
  • Please be aware that some children simply will not keep masks on, some people wear extremely loose fitting masks, and some people cannot wear a mask for health reasons.  While you are here for worship, please know that you may encounter a person not wearing a mask for one or more reasons.  Practice peacefulness.  Let's love one another, even those with whom we may disagree.  Thanks in advance for being gracious.
  • Please, if you (or your child) have any symptoms of illness, or a fever, do not attend worship in person.
  • We continue to take temperatures of both children and volunteers in the children's area prior to check-in. We recognize this will not totally eliminate the chances that a child or worker may acquire COVID-19, or the flu, or pink eye for that matter. It is simply a safeguard, and may help a parent who does not know that their child is running a fever become aware of that, and take appropriate steps. We appreciate your cooperation in this. I, like most of you, could never have imagined a day when we would be doing this, but these days are not like previous days in America.
  • This coming Sunday, October 25, will be our final 6pm service. We have been offering this service for the past four months. We now feel that with the changeover the following week to daylight savings time, it seems the right time to go back to our regular scheduling.
  • On Sunday evening, November 8 at 6pm, we will host a church family meeting. The goal is to touch base on some of these matters, share with you more about our partnership with Campus Outreach, and give you opportunities to ask questions and simply get up to speed on LifePoint and our ministries after being somewhat out of touch since March. I hope many of you can be in attendance.

Sorry for the administrative feel to this Jym-shorts article. It sounds that way because it is an administrative Jym-shorts article. Here's a final sentence to you that is more pastoral. Jesus is the Light of the world! See, I'm still a pastor!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jym
