What do plastic spiders, fluffy marshmallows, spongy apples, a boatload of candy, and around 200 overly excited kids have in common? Well, the Fall Fun Fest of course! Now that’s my kind of day! Last Saturday God blessed us with a beautiful sunny 74° day which brought lots and lots of families to our festival. I was especially encouraged to see and meet so many new families who live near LifePoint. Hopefully, they felt the love of Christ as they traveled around station-to-station with their kids and met some of us.

We had over 27 stations for games or activities and 6 craft areas as well as popcorn, nachos, homemade cookies, and an apple bar. One of the biggest hits this year was the S.A.F.E. Archery Hoverball. Think air streams keeping four balls floating in the air while arrows with spongy tips are shot. Even the adults got into this interactive game. Of course, the little ones loved the wagon rides all throughout the property, and almost all ages were able to compete in the Minute to Win It games. Shout out to the 66 of you who volunteered to help with all of these things. Your friendly and helpful attitude helped make the day run so smoothly.

Congratulations to the winner of our 11th chili cook-off. Joel Dulin beat seven others with his award-winning chili. Get his recipe here and give it a try. We had eleven kids age 11 and under compete in the bake-off. Congratulations to Zoey Bagwell who won it all with her Decadent Peanut Butter Pie. You can find her recipe here. Nicole Garcia took first place of the eight entries in the adult categories of breads, muffins, cookies, cakes, pies, and cobblers with her Apple Dump Cake. Get her recipe here for a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving dessert table.

Lastly, I want to give kudos to the committee members who helped me, Crystal Baer, Hannah Bagwell, Hannah Drent, and Shelley Speiden. These ladies donated hours and hours of their time and energy to ensure that we had such a spectacular event. I told the team not to underestimate their role in tedious logistical planning. When guests come and can feel Christ’s love through us, we are being HIS light. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Keep shining for Christ!

Mary
