Jym Shorts - December 14, 2023

Good afternoon LifePoint Family!

The purpose of today’s Jym Shorts article is to provide you with an update on the progress being made in the Middle School Student Ministry transition plan. On September 27th, Josh Krumenacher shared with the LifePoint family that they are answering God’s call for their lives to move to Burundi, Africa to serve as full-time missionaries with Sister Connection in the summer of 2024. We are happy to announce that Josh & Michelle received confirmation last week of their approval for a July 1st arrival!

We rejoice with the Krumenacher Family and hope that you will join us in thanking Josh for his years of service as Pastor for Middle School Students and continue praying for them in the months ahead as they prepare for the move.

The Lord provides for His Church! Upon hearing the exciting news about the Krumenacher's transition into missions, the Lord laid it upon Dave Kerr’s heart to reach out to Pastor Jym to share that he would be willing to step in as Interim Pastor for Middle School Student Ministry starting on January 1, 2024. He desires to serve in this role for up to one year to give the team of elders sufficient time to hire the best long-term replacement to serve the students and families of our middle school ministry. The Sunday Evening Middle School Student Ministry will continue the Behold Your God teaching plan for the rest of the school year.

“We have always enjoyed serving in Student Ministries. When God opened the door for the Krumenachers to serve in Africa, we thought that serving again in Middle School would help the transition process. We are looking forward to meeting the "new" families in Middle School & reconnecting with some of the families/leaders we served with a few years ago.” Dave loves working with middle school students as they are “the perfect blend of fun - deep thinkers who are ready for adventure & purpose.  I love the challenge of encouraging Middle School students to make their faith their own. ”

Dave faithfully served as the Director for Middle School Student Ministry here at LifePoint from 2017-2021. Prior to coming to LifePoint, Dave served as a youth pastor in Terre Haute, IN for five years. Dave earned his Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies and has gained experience through internships in Student Ministries and Church Camp Programming. Dave truly embodies our LifePoint Student Ministry Philosophy which centers around parents acting as their children’s primary discipler. Dave does this in his home, at church serving currently as a small group leader, and abroad in the Franklin Township Community Schools.

Dave & Heidi have been married for 23 years and have 4 sons Stephen (21), Matthew (18), Ian (16), and Izaak (14). Dave works full-time as a Medical Duty Officer with the Indianapolis Fire Department & SWAT Medic. In his free time, Dave enjoys adventures of all shapes and sizes including camping, hiking, skiing, sports, motorsports, and traveling with his family.

Dave describes his wife Heidi as “an incredible homemaker” joyfully embracing her role in parenting and raising four boys. Dave and Heidi enjoy serving together and her involvement ranges from serving as a girls’ small group leader, music, VBS, camp counselor, and missions trips. Her degree in Biblical Counseling paired with her experience as the wife of a youth pastor and student ministry assistant for over 10 years, makes her a dynamic partner and support for Dave in his interim role.

We are passionate about helping students treasure their relationship with Christ and helping them grow in their understanding of the biblical purposes of the church. The Elder Team is working diligently to find the best long-term replacement for Josh and hope to have them on board before the new school year begins in August. Should you have questions or would like to meet, I look forward to hearing from you and setting a time to connect.

The LifePoint Elder Team considers it an honor and privilege to serve this church family. Please join me in praying for our students, families, and elders during this transition. We are here to come alongside you and support your family. You are the most influential person in your child’s life and we want to do whatever we can to support you in that role!
